New Delhi: Feeling the heat of diplomatic isolation from the world community after the Uri attack, Pakistan is being completely cornered on the issue of terrorism.
Standing with India in its fight against terror perpetrators, both US and UK have snubbed Pakistan asking it to act against terror groups. Meanwhile India, post the Uri attack has been continuously trying to diplomatically isolate Pakistan in the world community. The recently cancelled SAARC Summit, which was scheduled to take place in Islamabad in November this year, was a huge embarrassment for Pakistan as after India backing out of the summit, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Sri Lanka also withdrew their participation.
Amidst all these developments, NewsX in an exclusive conversation with the former Afghanistan Intelligence Chief Rahmatullah Nabil discussed about India's surgical strike, Pakistan Army and Inter-Services Intelligence's (ISI) role in supporting terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Haqqani network.
Speaking on surgical strike carried out by India, former Afghan Intelligence Chief said that it should be precise against terrorist camps. “Not just on that side. We should do the same on our side with the coalition forces here. I support India's move. We should conduct surgical strikes too but not against civilians. It should be against terrorist camps spreading terrorist activities in India and in the region,” he said.
Being asked about Pakistan's ISI involvement in terror attacks, Rahmatullah Nabil said that seeing Osama Bin Laden killed in Abbottabad shows Pakistan's complicity.
“We in Afghanistan have enough evidence that they directly support terrorist groups under the name of Haqqani Network or for that matter LeT. We arrested brother of Siraj Haqqani who confessed that he was living in Murree which is close to Islamabad. They have safe havens in cities not just in rural areas,” he said.
"Hafiz Saeed holds gatherings in cities. There is no doubt that Pak ISI is supporting these terrorists," the former Afghan Intelligence Chief said.
"We have evidence to back our claims. We have arrested several terrorists who have admitted that they have received training in Peshawar or Nowshera and other parts, their handlers are military people. They get their orders from GHQ," Nabil added.
Speaking on the LeT, JeM wings of the ISI, the former intelligence chief said, "Nobody can doubt it. I can tell you that they are operating under ISI instructions. On Pak retaliation of surgical strikes, the former Intelligence chief said that it could be by attacking Indian mission and installations in Afghanistan.
“They will definitely try because of our close ties with India. But I am sure they will not succeed.”
