New Delhi: A car bomb attack on a military station in the Hakkari province of southeast Turkey on Tuesday claimed lives of at least 18 people.
Prime Minister Binali Yildrim confirmed the death of ten soldiers and eight civilians during a news conference in Istanbul and also condemned the attack.
He said, "For the stability of our country, we will continue doing everything we can to save our homeland and our nation from the forces of terrorism."
As per reports, the attack occurred outside a gendarmerie checkpoint on the Semdinli-Yuksekova highway and was planned by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is designated as a terror group.
Citing public and national security reasons the Turkish authorities has imposed a temporary blackout on any coverage of the attack.
