New Delhi: Pakistani footballer Shahlyla Ahmadzai Baloch, 20, passed away on Wednesday night in a tragic car crash in Karachi. Shahlyla played as a striker for the Pakistani women's football team.

According to the Express Tribune, Baloch was sitting in the passenger seat when the accident took place at DHA Phase VIII area in Karachi.

Shahlyla has had sensational plays for Pakistan, including a hat-trick in Maldives and scoring against Bhutan in a 4-1 victory for Pakistan in the 2014 SAFF Women's Championship.

Shahlyla was considered as inspirational by young footballers in Pakistan and was one of the finest strikers the country had ever seen. With her death, prominent sportspersons in the country played their condolences.

She played for the Balochistan United FC as a forward.
