New Delhi: The Wildlife Department in Sri Lanka on Monday found an 18 feet long crocodile in the Matara village that had got stuck in a canal.
The large crocodile with a weight close to a ton was caught in a canal leading off the Nilwala River. It was possible that the crocodile could not fight the fast flowing waters of the flooded Nilwala River and as a result got stuck in the canal.
According to the Wildlife officials the crocodile was born with three legs.
Later the Wildlife officials at Mirissa and Kalawetiya, released the giant reptile back into the river. They said so far this was the largest crocodile found in Sri Lanka.
