Taking place in Milpitas, California, an Indian man hailing from the state of Telangana was shot dead on Saturday morning, purportedly by a carjacker.
The 26-year-old man has been identified as Mamidala Vamshi Chander Reddy who was returning home after completing his part-time shift at a local store in Milpitas. It is believed that a carjacker shot dead Vamshi.
“Vamshi’s friends called me on Saturday saying my son is missing and that an incident has taken place wherein a person was shot at. They later informed me that it was Vamshi who got killed,” the victim’s father said after the incident.
The Telangana man had gone to California in the year 2013 and had completed his MS from Silicon Valley University. Vamshi recently took a part-time job at a local store while searching for a job in the software industry.
“His friends told me that Vamshi was shot dead by a carjacker who was trying to take away car of a woman at gun point in the parking garage of the apartment,” Vamshi’s father said.
“He was worried about finding a software job there. I asked him to come back and find a job here. We wanted to get him married. He said he would come back home soon but we did not expect such a thing to happen to him,” he added.
