Indian athlete Tanveer Hussain has been indicted in US by an Essex County grand jury on charges of sexually abusing and indulging in an inappropriate contact with a 12-year old girl earlier in February this year.
As per reports, the incident took place in February when the 24-year-old athlete reached Saranac Lake for a snowshoe competition from Kashmir.
According to sources the minor girl informed the police on the night of February that Tanveer Hussain kissed and groped her twice, two days after the snowshoe race.
The grand jury returned the indictment charging Tanveer Hussain with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Tanveer had earlier denied all charges on him including a plea deal which would let him return to India.
Previously he was in news before arriving in the US for the snowshoe competition as his athlete visa was denied by the US embassy in New Delhi due to the order issued by President Donald Trump on barring travel into US from seven Muslim countries.
