A small-scale blast was reported on a London Underground train on the District Line near Tower Hill station on Tuesday. After the blast took place the passengers ran in panic to save their lives. The small-scale explosion in a bag triggered panic at the Underground station.

There were reports of an “acid smell’ following the blast.

British Transport Police taking cognizance of this wrote on micro blogging site Twitter, “Incident at Tower Hill station is not suspicious. Fire believed to have been caused by mobile phone charger overheating.”

London Fire Brigade tweeted: “We’ve dealt with a small explosion on a train at #TowerHill station. It is believed to have been caused by a mobile phone charger.”

Tower Hill Station was closed just after the incident took place and the security forces and fire brigades were rushed to the spot. Tower Hill station was immediately evacuated by the security forces. 

According to reports, one passenger was injured in this incident.
