NEW DELHI: A foreign journalist Maria Golovnina, Bureau Chief of Reuters working in Islamabad has been mysteriously found dead.

Russian-Japanese Maria was working with Reuters as the news agency’s bureau chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan for more than a year. She was found dead in a bathroom of a house being utilized as an office on Monday.

Believing the initial reports, the girl died because of natural causes; however her husband reportedly has asked the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) doctors to not conduct a post-mortem examination on her body.

The Russian journalist fell unconscious and was rushed to PIMS where she was declared dead, say her colleagues.

The actual cause of the death is yet to be determined and the authorities have already launched an investigation to establish the facts of the matter.
