People may have known about Russian President Vladimir Putin through his leadership skills, firmness to run his country but a leader who always appears to look serious gave a glimpse of his soft side for one thing. Vladimir Putin was gifted a cute puppy by Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on his birthday and the photos reveal Russian premier’s soft side for one of the most adorable creatures of the world and a man’s best friend. President Vladimir Putin received a cute, fluffy Central Asian Shepherd on his 65th birthday.

Overwhelmed with the gift, President Vladimir Putin lifted the puppy in his hand like a ‘toddler’, showed gestures like cuddling and kissing on his head, while showing his care and love for the pup. Dog lover Putin has two other dogs named Buffy and Yume. These two dogs were also gifted to President Putin by other world leaders. Putin was gifted a Karakachan dog in November 2010 by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and an Akita Inu named Yume in Moscow in July 2012. Yume was Japan’s expression and a gratitude for Russia after the country helped Japan following a devastating earthquake and tsunami in 2011.

An avid dog lover, Vladimir Putin has a loving, caring heart for other species too. President Putin has been witnessed by his officials in the past extending his hand as a rescuer of endangered species like siberian cranes, siberian bear and handling horses, tigers. Once, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Kansas said about the Russian President that Putin was very much at home with these animals.

Handing over his adorable surprise to President Putin, Turkmenistan premier Berdymukhamedov said, “We have a common friend, this is the world’s unique alabai dog. And today I brought this little alabai with me”. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who is Russia’s current President is holding the office since 7 May. He was Prime Minister from 1999 to 2000, President from 2000 to 2008, and again Prime Minister from 2008 to 2012.
