Railway Protection Force personnel shot dead four people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, on a train near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra.
According to an official, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel shot dead four people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, on board a running train near the Palghar railway station in Maharashtra on Monday morning.
“Four casualties, including the ASI, have been reported in the firing incident inside the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express (12956). The accused has been arrested. DCP North GRP has been informed,” the Railway Protection Force has said.
According to officials, the accused, RPF Constable Chetan Singh, opened fire with his official automatic weapon at around 5 am in the morning, killing three passengers on the train traveling from Jaipur to Mumbai as well as another RPF personnel, his duty supervisor ASI Tika Ram Meena. He was taken into custody along with his weapons.
After killing his senior colleague, the RPF constable entered another bogie and killed three passengers, according to reports from the news agency PTI, which cited officials.
The RPF personnel opened fire inside the moving train after it had passed Palghar Station, later he pulled the chain and went out of the train near Dahisar Station, said the chief public relation officer of the railway. He was then caught by the police at Meera Road.
