President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his condolences on the death of Indian music composer and Santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma on Tuesday, saying that his concerts would enthrall fans of Indian classical music.
Rashtrapati Bhavan sent out a tweet “Connoisseurs of Indian classical music will be enthralled by Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma’s presentations. He popularised the Santoor, a native Kashmiri musical instrument. It’s disappointing to learn that his Santoor has been silenced. Condolences to his family, friends, and legions of admirers around the world.”
A musical great, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, died today in Mumbai. He was 84 years old.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his condolences to the family of famed Santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, stating that his music would continue to enthrall future generations.
Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was a santoor musician and composer from Jammu, India.
In 1991, he was awarded the Padma Shri, and in 2001, the Padma Vibhushan.
