Andhra Pradesh police have detained four men for allegedly practicing black magic in the Musunuru Mandal of Nuziveedu constituency, in a peculiar new superstition that has arisen in Southern India.

According to Sub Inspector (SI) Kutumba Rao, these four people were discovered using black magic and occult rituals to find buried valuables in the Pedapativarigudem hamlet around midnight. The event was recorded at Gopavaram village’s neighbourhood in Musunuru Mandal.

Boda Rajesh, one of the village’s farmers, was observed on Friday night doing an occult worship and digging in his lemon grove for riches.

The four people were supposedly together in the lemon orchard when Boda Rajesh began digging, and when the locals attempted to capture them, they allegedly eluded their capture.

Locals have requested individuals who engage in black magic, occult worship, and treasure hunting be subjected to harsh punishment.

The incident occurred a few days after the Kerala police finished their investigation into the case of two ladies who were brutally murdered in the guise of a ritual after being seduced with money.
