It’s almost been half a century since iconic British brand Range Rover created the luxury SUV when it launched the original Range Rover. All these decades later, the company is set to introduce a fourth member to the Range Rover family.
Christened as the Range Rover Velar, this new Range Rover will do the job of filling in the white space between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. From a bloodline like no other, Velar name is derived from the original Range Rover prototypes of 1969. The word is derived from the Latin velare meaning to veil or cover.
Land Rover Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, said: “We call the Velar the avantgarde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”
Range Rover says that the Velar brand will be refined for every occasion and for every terrain. It uses unique sustainable materials and advanced engineering to continue Land Rover’s drive to go just about anywhere.
More will be known about the Velar when it will be unveiled next week on the March 1, 2017. The Velar closely follows the F-pace, a first ever SUV from Land Rover’s sister brand, Jaguar.
