Delivering to their promise of introducing 10 new Audi models in 2017, Audi India is all set to roll-out their all new Audi A5 in the country today. According to the buzz created by the German auto-maker, Ingolstadt-based Audi will be launching the S5, the A5 Cabriolet along with the A5 Sportback. The Audi had been making headlines since it announced that the company will be rolling out a new version of Q7 — one of the most loved SUV globally. After the announcement of A5’s launch, Q7 now seems to be the 10th car that will be launched by the end of this year.
With the launch set to take place today, the carmaker seems to be all worked up and leaving no stone unturned in making it a success. The luxury and performance car maker, is following its same old trend of bringing the A5 Cabriolet and A5 Sportback along with S5.
The new Audi A5 looks sharper with its new and more sculpted bonnet. The car has got a new hexagonal nose. Identical to its coupe cousin, the S5 differs in the bumper design at both the front and the rear. The striking dual-barrel headlamps come with an LED treatment for the daytime running lights (DRLs).
Coming on to the performance level, while the A5 gets twin exhausts, the S5 sports quad exhausts pipes. To keep its price aggressive, the car shares its platform and most parts with its smaller sibling, the A4. The rear profile is similar to the A4, with split LED tail lamps.
The 2017 A5 Sportback will find its place above A4 sedan which will also be company’s 9th offering this year. Moreover, Audi A5 & S5 Sportback models will come with 5-door layout while A5 Cabriolet will be a 2-door convertible.
Powering the all new Audi A5 is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that gives out max power of 190PS and 400Nm of torque. On the other hand, the S5 gets a bigger engine, 3.0-litre V6 diesel motor mustering 354PS and 500Nm. the Audi S5 is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission working with Quattro drive (all-wheel drive). The Audi S5 can go from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds, while the A5 Sportback clocks 0-100kmph in 7.9 seconds.

The Audi has maintained its class with tons of new features to assist the driver while on road. The plastic used inside the cabin is fine. The passenger seats are comfortable enough for three. Anything left out, Audi compensates it with its killer ‘love at first sight’ looks.
A 3-zone climate control with 2 vents for front and one for rear passengers is offered in both the A5 and the S5. On the other hand the A5 gets a non-touch infotainment system with vehicle settings, media, maps, and Bluetooth connection for smart phones, the S5 gets a touch-enabled one. Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard in the S5 whereas they are optional in sibling A5.
Coming on the pockets of the buyer, Audi has always been value for money for all its owners. Apart from their performance base engines, Audis are known for their sleek and aerodynamics body structures.
The new Audi A5 is expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs 55 to Rs 60 Lakh whereas the Sportier A5 Cabriolet and S5 could be priced in between Rs 75 Lakh to Rs 80 Lakh. Even though this launch is a clear cut win for Audi, as it faces no competition from its enemies in this class. However, going by the pricing, the buyers would have a ton load of options to choose from.
Going by the pricing leveled by the company, the newly ‘would be’ launched Audis will be facing rivals like Benz E-Class, the performance based BMW 5-series and Volvo.
There are no direct rivals of the Audi A5 but considering its price, it goes up against the Mercedes-Benz E Class, BMW 5-Series and the Volvo S60. The S5 lock horns with sportier rivals like the Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG and the Volvo S60 Polestar.
