Bengal SSC scam: ED now summons TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya

Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday summoned another Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Manik Bhattacharya for interrogation at agency's Kolkata headquarters on Wednesday.

Manik Bhattacharya served as Bengal Primary Education Board’s previous chairman. This comes shortly after SSC (School Service Commission) scandal led to the agency’s arrest of Partha Chatterjee, current West Bengal Industries Minister and former Minister of Education, as well as his close aide Arpita Mukherjee.
Partha Chatterjee was transported to Central Government Office (CGO) building in Kolkata.
Chatterjee and his assistant Arpita Mukherjee on Tuesday were placed under the Enforcement Directorate’s care till August 3.
He was released from AIIMS Bhuwneshwar this morning, and he arrived at the Kolkata airport.
SSKM Hospital in Kolkata’s Dr. Tushar Kanti Patra, “The condition of Partha Chatterjee is steady. According to medical reports, everything is OK. He underwent a comprehensive checkup. Despite certain issues, he didn’t require hospitalization, and he is being attentively watched.”
Calcutta court further mandated that both arrested defendants undergo medical examinations every 48 hours.
Furthermore, the court instructed the ED not to question Arpita between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Earlier on Saturday, Partha was detained in West Bengal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the suspected School Service Commission (SSC) fraud.
