Trinamool Congress Leader Anubrata Mondal was questioned by a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday in relation to the multi-million dollar cattle smuggling scandal in West Bengal.
When the CBI team arrived at Asansol prison in the West Burdwan district on Saturday, they questioned Mondal over the fraud. The head of the TMC’s Birbhum district Anubrata Mondal was taken into custody by the CBI on August 11 in connection with the livestock smuggling scandal at his home in Bolpur.
Anubrata Mondal, a powerful TMC member, was identified as the primary beneficiary of the cattle fraud in a new chargesheet that the CBI recently filed in a special court in Asansol. The charge sheet from the CBI also made note of the specifics of the enormous assets and property owned by him and his family.
Sukanya Mondal was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate about the livestock smuggling scheme earlier on Wednesday for over nine hours.
Sukanya was summoned by the federal agency to the ED headquarters in New Delhi at approximately 10 am, and she departed around 7 pm on November 2.
