Mallikarjun Kharge, a Congress senior politician and the party’s presidential candidate, stated that his name was not proposed by party supremo Sonia Gandhi and denied having backing from the party’s interim president.

Sonia Gandhi, according to Kharge, never proposed his name for the role of party president and dismissed the rumor. “I have never mentioned anything about Sonia Gandhi offering my name for the presidency. She has indicated unequivocally that no member of the Gandhi family would participate in the election or support any candidate “On Tuesday, Kharge remarked.

Notably, Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge are competing for the position of Congress President.

“Someone circulated this rumor in order to discredit the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, and myself. She has indicated unequivocally that she would not run in the party elections or support any candidate “Kharge stated.

Kharge went on to say that the party’s members had chosen 9300 delegates to vote for the candidate, and that the candidate with the most votes would be elected.

When asked about Uttar Pradesh voters, he stated that the state had “1250 voters” (delegates).

“I am not here to assess my prospects; the candidates who have requested me to run will be held accountable for my win,” he continued.

Earlier on Sunday, Kharge stated that he is contesting the Congress Presidential election because the country’s situation is “terrible,” and he intends to “fight” them.
