Delhi government official charged with raping minor daughter of deceased friend between 2020-2021, under IPC and POCSO Act.

On Monday, the police booked a Delhi government official for reportedly raping the minor daughter of his deceased friend over several months. Allegedly, the assault occurred between 2020 and 2021.

On August 13, the Burari Police Station filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the official, charging him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the rigorous Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. Following the demise of her father, who was likewise a government worker, the minor girl began residing with the accused in Burari from October 2020 to February 2021, as stated by the police.

According to the complainant, the accused subjected her to sexual harassment, physical molestation, and repeated rape over several months spanning from 2020 to 2021. Police stated that the girl began experiencing episodes of anxiety, leading to her hospitalization a week ago. Following thorough psychological counseling, she confided in doctors, counselors, and law enforcement officials, unveiling the fact that she had been sexually harassed by the accused.

The minor revealed that she became pregnant and was coerced into terminating her pregnancy by the spouse of the accused, as stated by the Delhi Police. A medical-legal examination of the minor has been conducted, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.
