MUMBAI: As the fate of actor Salman Khan is decided today and the actor is set to hear the quantum of punishment, his lawyer Srikant Shivade argued that his client suffers from a brain illness that can create problem for him if he is sent to jail.
49-year-old Salman suffers from Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is also known as a ‘suicide disease’. It is a neuropathic disorder described with certain episodes of strong pain in the face, originating from the trigeminal nerve. The problem has also been defined as amongst the most painful conditions of the mankind.
According to the reports, the problem is estimated amongst 1 in 15, 000 or 20, 000 people, although the authentic figure might be considerably high because of common misdiagnosis.
In most of the cases, the symptoms for TN starts appearing more commonly after the age of 50 years although there have been cases with patients as young as three years of age too.
“I am suffering from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve problem I have had since the last seven years. But now, it’s getting worse. Ab dard hadd se paar ho gaya hai and I am going to kill it,” the actor had said, who had to undergo an angiography (medical imaging technique used to visualise the body from within) in 2011.(Also Read: Salman Khan Hit-and-Run Case LIVE: Verdict announced)
