New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear a petition filed by an NGO in the matter of controversial film ‘Udta Punjab’. The hearing will take place in the afternoon.

The NGO had moved the apex court, challenging Bombay High Court’s judgement for directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to clear the film with one cut and an A certification.

It has pleaded that the High Court cannot decide on deletions to be made in a film which shows the state in poor light.

The film, scheduled to release across 8,000 screens countrywide on Friday, was leaked two days ahead of its release date.
