Mumbai: As people queue up outside banks, post offices to deposit, exchange their Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes post demonetisation, Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal on Saturday spoke on government’s move and supported it by saying, “Of course there’ll be chaos, but I believe it was an important decision; there was no other way but to announce it suddenly.”
Speaking on the effect of this decision on those who hold black money, the ‘Rock On 2’ star said, “The backbone of people who stash black money; involved in drug trafficking, terror funding are broken or at least injured due to this.”
Commenting on its effect over his recently released ‘Rock On 2’, Rampal said, “Producer of my film ‘Rock On 2’ and the film has suffered because of this as well but sometimes you have to make some sacrifices.”
“I believe and hope that this decision is beneficial in long run; it’s time when we must stand together and support government’s decision,” Rampal concluded.
Prime Minister in his address to the nation on Tuesday had announced that in order to put a menace and crackdown on black money, the government will demonitise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes and they will be replaced by new Rs 500 and Rs 2,0000 notes which will be available in the ATMs from November 11.
