Hyderabad: The ‘Badshah’ of Bollywood and heart-throb of many, Shah Rukh Khan was conferred with a honorary doctorate on Monday by the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in Hyderabad.
 
The ‘King of Romance’ received the honorary doctorate from University Chancellor Zafar Sareshwala at the 6th convocation of the varsity. Clad in a graduation gown and sporting sunglasses, Shah Rukh received the honorary doctorate amid a thunderous applause by the students.
 
Thanking the university for the honour, the ‘Raees’ actor said that his parents would have been happy to see the moment, especially since he was receiving the honour in the birthplace of his mother. The actor also said that his father was a follower of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
 
 
“I heard my father also contested an election as an independent candidate and forfeited his deposit,” SRK added.
 
 
President Pranab Mukherjee attended the ceremony as a chief guest where Industrialist Sanjiv Saraf was also awarded with the doctorate.
 
 
The ‘Dear Zindagi’ actor will soon be seen hosting the 62nd Jio Filmfare Awards 2017 along with his Karan Johar. The awards ceremony will be held on January 14, 2017 at the NSCI Dome in Worli.
