Jaipur: Prominent Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was assaulted on Friday on the sets of his upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’.

As per reports, a frenzied mob in Jaipur, who accused the director of misrepresenting facts in movie vandalised the set of ‘Padmavati’ and disrupted the shooting of the film.

Reports from various sources suggest that members of the Rajput Karni Sena created ruckus during the shoot claiming that the movie portrays Rani Padmavati in a bad light. 
 
This is the same group who protested against Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ claiming that Jodhaa was married to Akbar’s son and not Akbar.

Recently it was also reported that the ‘Devdas’ director had beefed up security on his sets of ‘Padmavati’ in order to guard the look of actors Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

The movie ‘Padmavati’ is roughly based on the account of the 1303 siege of the Chittor fort in Rajasthan by Alauddin Khilji.

Shahid Kapoor, will be seen essaying the role of Raja Ratan Singh Rawal of Chittor and Deepika Padukone will be seen as the queen of Chittor. Ranveer Singh will be seen portraying the role of Alauddin Khilji.
