Bollywood actor Govinda and director David Dhawan shared a good rapport in the past and have delivered as many as 17 commercially successful films together.
The director-actor duo was popular for their series of comedy movies in the 90s. However, the relationship between the duo has soured with time with the veteran actor lashing out at David’s son Varun Dhawan.
In a recent interview while promoting his upcoming movie ‘Aa Gaya Hero’, Govinda lashed out at Karan Johar, David Dhawan and even Varun Dhawan. Govinda was quoted saying, “How can he (Varun) be like me? To become Govinda, he needs to be innocent, uneducated and a poor village boy. Varun is already a son of a director. In the last six years, he hasn’t done more than two films with his father, whereas I did 17 films with his father (David Dhawan).”
He even added, “Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan both have a body like Salman Khan. But they can’t say it. If they call themselves as Salman Khan, then they won’t get films. They can’t afford to be against Khan. This is how the filmy world works. The comparison between Varun and me is a fake one.”
When junior Dhawan was asked about the same, the ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ actor said, “There should be criticism. I learn a lot from criticism. He says there is no similarity between him and me which is right. There cannot be similarities. He is a senior actor and I respect him. I will never be able to match up to him.”
