Tollywood fiilmmker SS Rajamouli who is known for his magnum opus ‘Baahubali’ franchise denied reports of making ‘Mahabharata’, saying that he is enjoying his break.

While speaking to news agency, IANS, the ‘Baahubali’ director said, “I am not making Mahabharata. I just said that my dream is to make Mahabharata but it is a long time to get to that.” He even added, “I haven’t started anything. I am just taking a break. It will be sometime that I will be starting to work on my next project,”

However, earlier when Rajamouli revealed his plans of making his dream project ‘Mahabharata’ in far future there has been immense speculations by movie buffs on its potential cast. Superstars like Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Aamir Khan as well as Shah Rukh Khan were anticipated to be a part of the movie.

Recently while interacting with the students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Rajamouli revealed his fondness for the character of Karna in Mahabharata. “I have read Karna hundreds of times. Every time, his character brings tears to my eyes and gives me goosebumps,” he was quoted saying.

Rajamouli gained global recognition by creating ‘Baahubali’ which went on to become India’s biggest blockbuster with worldwide earnings of over Rs 900 crore.

Starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati as the male protagonists, the plot of the movie revolves around the battle for the ownership of an ancient kingdom namely Mahismati between two brothers. It also featured Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sathyaraj in prominent roles.

When asked about any plans to come out with another part of ‘Baahubali’, Rajamouli said at the moment there is no “further” story to tell.

“We started the film with a fantastic story, and we finished it with these two films. So, there is no further story. I know we have a fantastic market and I know I will make hundreds of crore (with the franchise) but that wouldn’t be honest filmmaking,” Rajamouli said to IANS.
