Actor Mukesh Rishi who is essaying the role of Ravana at the Luv Kush committee Ramlila was challaned by the Delhi Traffic Police for driving with a crown instead of helmet, which is in violation of traffic laws. A video in which Rishi is riding the motorcycle around India Gate had gone viral on social media, which prompted police to take stock of the matter. Police took pictures of the bike, which was traced to Mukesh Rishi. A notice has been sent to the actor, communicating about violation.
“Traffic personnel also made videos of him and sent it to the Road and Safety cell headquarters in Todapur. After tracing the vehicle owner, we sent a notice to his registration number, communicating that he had violated traffic norms and a challan would be issued,” DCP Traffic (Outer Range) Dinesh Gupta said.
Meanwhile, police have said Rishi has agreed to pay the fine and also apologised for the violation.
“I did it intentionally. No matter who you are, you must wear proper gear while driving. I wanted to send this message. I will pay the fine,” the actor was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
Rishi who has acted as villain in several Hindu and Telugu movies is playing the role of Ravana at Ramlila organised by Luv Kush Ramlila Committe, one of oldest committees in Delhi. The actor in an interview with an English daily had stated that he had been approached by organisers to essay character of Ravana in the past as well, but he refused as he did not feel ready for it at that point of time.
