Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after complaining of uneasiness due to the chest infection. Doctors have confirmed that he came in the afternoon with breathing difficulty. The Twitter handle of legendary Bollywood actor confirmed the news and said he is recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers, it further added. According to media reports, Dilip Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqui operates his official Twitter account in his absence.
Born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan in Pakistan’s Peshawar, Dilip Kumar made his debut as an actor with the movie Jwar Bhata, which was released in 1944. In his 6-decade long career as an actor, Dilip Kumar has worked in more than 65 films. He is popularly known as The Tragedy King and The First Khan. Released in 1998, Dilip Kumar’s last film was Qila.
The actor is widely considered as one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema. In 1991, he was conferred with the Padma Bhushan.
In 2000, he was elected to Rajya Sabha. The Government of India honoured him the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. In 1998, the Pakistan government honoured him with the highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.
