Not only did Bollywood’s upcoming period drama Padmavati captivate its Indian fans with its mind-blowing and stunning visuals in its recently released trailer, it has also enchanted fans from foreign lands. The multi-starrer Padmavati directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari. Soon after the trailer was unveiled it sent fans into frenzy. Actor Ranveer Singh plays the role of Alauddin Khilji while Shahid Kapoor plays Maharawal Ratan Singh, the King of Chittor.

Soon after the trailer of the historical drama was released, many Bollywood celebrities — Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan — were completely gripped by it. They took to social media to share their views of the epic movie. But what was interesting to see were the reactions of some of the foreign fans: “Look at the beauty — Deepika Padukone,” one of them remarked. The other said she had been eagerly waiting for the look of the movie for almost a year now and was excited to see what it had in store for her. She said she was particularly excited for Ranveer.

The look of Ranveer in Padmavati, who is playing a negative role for the first time in his Bollywood career so far, brings a negative aura in the movie. His long hair and facial appearance presents a ‘sinister’ angle in the film. Shahid Kapoor who is the King of Chittor and Rani Padmini’s husband, looks royal and fierce in the trailer. And Deepika as usual is stunning in her role as the queen. This is not the first time that Deepika is being seen in a historical film. The Piku actor has assayed several roles in historical movies one of which is Bajirao Mastani. Injecting the film’s essence with his own art and style, film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has himself composed the score in this movie.

While watching the recently released trailer one of the viewers was seen humming along and looked super excited. Calling the trailer “monumental,” he said he loved everything he saw in the trailer. One of the viewers said that Deepika looked so ravishing that she (the viewer) would go to war for her (Deepika), thus invoking laughter from her partner who too was watching the video. Both hoped that Deepika had more presence in the story, especially since the movie is named Padamavati. Another viewer called the movie: “Visually stunning — the colours, the composition, it’s so aesthetically pleasing; it’s so well crafted.”

With the trailer making news around the globe, it remains to be seen how the fans will finally react to the film once it hits the silver screens on December 1.

The trailer has garnered more than 10 million views so far:
