Kerela high court on Tuesday has granted bail to actor Dileep with stringent conditions. Dileep was lodged at Aluva jail for 85 days of custody in case of assaulting and kidnapping a Malyalam actress. The actor has been in jail since July over his alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the case. The courts earlier rejected four bail pleas by Dileep — twice each in the trial court and the High Court.

The abduction had taken place on February 17 when the actress was on her way from Thrissur to Kochi. She was taken around in her vehicle forcefully for about two hours before being dumped near actor-director Lal’s home, from where police was informed.

The key accused — Pulsar Suni and his accomplices involved in the actual abduction — were arrested a week later. After detailed questioning, police unearthed a conspiracy angle that led to the actor’s arrest.

A trial court earlier denied Dileep’s first bail plea. Following which the actor then approached the High Court, which also turned down his plea. Dileep employed a new counsel, replacing his previous one, who appeared thrice for his bail hearings.

Earlier this month, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday posted actor Dileep’s fifth bail application hearing in the Malayalam actress abduction case for September 26.

Ahead of Dileep’s arrest, the police probe team had also questioned the actor’s wife, actress Kavya Madhavan, her mother. For both Dileep and Kavya, this is their second marriage. The actor was earlier married to actress Manju Warrier, while Kavya was married to a computer engineer. Dileep and Kavya got married on November 25, 2016.
