Director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) worked with Nagarjuna Akkineni in ‘Shiva’ and it went on to become one of the biggest film hits in Tollywood. Today, the duo hopes to recreate the magic with their new project.

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma stated on his Facebook page. “I am extremely excited that I am doing a film with Nagarjuna after nearly 25 years but contrary to some uninformed media speculations, this new film is nothing to with SHIVA, neither in character nor in story content..Its a very different but an extremely realistic action film set against a story such as neither me nor Nagarjuna has ever done before. I just hope I will once again live up to his expectations which he had of me the first time he gave me a break.”

Ram Gopal Varma also went on to elaborate that it will be an action film. Nagarjuna has done more family-oriented films of late so it will be interesting to see him in a complete action film.

‘Shiva’ came out in 1989 and was produced by Annapurna Studios and SS Creations. It was the last film in which Amala, Nagarjuna’s wife, starred in a lead role. This movie was declared one of the top 100 Indian films and was remade in other languages including Hindi.
