Shah meets Pramod Sawant, Biren Singh in Delhi ahead of govt formation in states

Ahead of the Goa legislature party meeting, interim Chief Minister and BJP leader Pramod Sawant met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday night. Pramod Sawant’s meeting with Shah carries much significance as the BJP is yet to announce the next chief minister of Goa. In the recently concluded state Assembly polls, the BJP managed to win 20 out of the 40 seats in Goa, emerging as the largest party but falling one seat short of the majority figure. Congress party won the second most number of seats by winning in 11 constituencies.

The BJP had announced on the result day that it will form a government in Goa with the support of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party(MGP) and independent candidates.

After the BJP Parliamentary Board’s appointment of Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and L Murugan as the central observer and co-observer for Goa, the next Chief Minister’s name will be announced in the BJP’s state legislature party meeting. 

Amit Shah also met interim Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Saturday. BJP national president JP Nadda was also present in the meeting, sources cited by ANI said. The BJP leaders have been discussing the government formation in Manipur after the BJP won an absolute majority in the state for the first time. It will be the second successive government of the party in the state.
