As stated by the international cricket governing body on Saturday, Greg Barclay has been unanimously chosen to serve a second two-year term as the Independent Chair of International Cricket Council (ICC).

After Tavengwa Mukuhlani withdrew from the election, Barclay was not challenged, and the board reiterated its complete support for him to serve as chair for a further two years.

In response to his reappointment, Barclay remarked, “It is an honour to be re-elected as the Chair of the International Cricket Council and I would like to thank my fellow ICC Directors for their support.”

The newly elected chairman noted that the ICC has made significant progress in promoting cricket and charting the sport’s course for the future.

With the introduction of our global growth strategy, which offers clear guidance to create a prosperous and sustainable future for our sport, we have advanced significantly over the past two years, he continued.

Barclay expressed his satisfaction at continuing to work closely with the ICC members to advance the game of cricket.
