Despite tight security precautions, the videography survey of Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Masjid complex proceeded on Saturday. The surveying went off without a hitch and will resume on Sunday.
The mosque management committee has stated that it will work with the team given to the duty by a local court for the time being. The mosque is next to the famed Kashi Vishwanath temple, and a group of women has petitioned the local court for permission to worship daily before the statues on its exterior walls.
Three basement chambers belonged to the Muslim side and were shut. The mosque management committee unlocked the locked rooms with keys and authorised the survey.
The fourth chamber belonged to the Hindu side and had no door, thus the survey could be carried out without difficulty.
