After years in the making, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra will finally be released on September 9, and it has been stated that the picture was created on a whooping Rs 410 crore budget. This would make it the most expensive Hindi film ever made. Apart from pan-Indian films like RRR, 2.0, Saaho, and a few others, the most costly Hindi film ever filmed was YRF’s 2018 historical adventure Thugs of Hindostan, which allegedly cost Rs 310 crore.
According to reports, the Rs 410 crore budget for Brahmastra does not include publicity costs. The film’s high budget is partly due to the substantial VFX work that has been done. According to the source, the staff is “silently optimistic about the project.”
Brahmastra has been in the works for over a decade. Ayan earlier stated that the concept for the film came to him when he was still working on Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. The film’s production began nearly five years ago. The film’s primary actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt met on the set and married earlier this year after dating for five years. In June, Alia revealed her pregnancy.
Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni also feature in Brahmastra. Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement was already rumoured about, but Mouni confirmed that SRK has a special appearance’ in the film. According to the leaked stills, SRK plays ‘Vanarastra’ in the flick. The Pathaan actor was previously rumoured to be portraying a scientist in the film.
Brahmastra is being released across India, with SS Rajamouli supporting the south Indian versions. The film is being released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada as the first instalment in a trilogy.
