China simulating attack on Taiwan Strait: Defence Ministry

Defence Ministry said on Saturday that several Chinese planes and ships had been spotted in the Taiwan Strait, simulating an assault on the country’s main island. It added that some of the aircraft had breached the middle line.

The armed forces responded appropriately to such a circumstance, according to the Ministry of National Defense, using observation systems, CAP aircraft, naval boats, and missile systems.

Today, Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan tweeted, “Around Taiwan Strait, several PLA craft were spotted, some of which had crossed the median. Potential spoof assault on HVA. In reaction to this, #ROCArmedForces have used alert broadcast, CAP aircraft, patrolling navy vessels, and land-based missile systems.”

China has been stepping up its military exercises as the Taiwan strait tensions rose as soon as US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan.

According to yesterday’s report from Taiwan’s Defense Ministry, 13 vessels and 68 military aircraft from China breached the middle line to take part in drills.

National Defense Ministry of Taiwan further tweeted “In drills in the Taiwan Strait, many PLA aircraft and warships have been seen crossing the centre line. In reaction to this, #ROCArmedForces have used alert broadcast, CAP aircraft, patrolling navy boats, and land-based missile systems.”

After China surrounded the self-governing island with a series of massive military manoeuvres that were denounced by the United States and other Western allies, Taiwan Premier Su Tseng-chang denounced what he dubbed “the wicked neighbour.”

Notably, China has escalated its hostility toward Taiwan in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s recent trip to Taiwan.
