The All-India Senior Selection Committee announced the squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup for India on Monday. The T20 World Cup will be taking place in Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are back in the game upon recouped fitness as expert pacer Mohammed Shami along with Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar in reserve for the most anticipated tournament.
Cricket fans over Twitter seemed disappointed and annoyed by Shami not making it in the main squad. Cricket lovers also wanted Sanju Samson in the World Cup squad as many express their shock over the social media.
Former cricket captain of India Mohammed Azharuddin tweeted “Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami from the main squad” after the announcement by the Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI).
Both Bumrah and Patel had gone under intense rehabilitation programmes as the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and the BCCI medical teams considered them fit to return to action.
Wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Kartik was elated after his dream of representing India in the T20 World Cup came true. Kartik expressed his feeling by posting a tweet on Twitter that reads “Dreams do come true”.
India will be facing arch-rival Pakistan on October 23rd in their first match after their recent clash in the Asia Cup held in Dubai where India lost to Pakistan by 5 wickets.
