This year, to commemorate National Movie Day on September 16, several of the major cinema chains have agreed to provide Rs 75 tickets to their fans. The decision was made as a token of thanks to the audience by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and Cinemas across India. It is also a step toward reuniting audience members who have yet to return to cinemas since they reopened following the Covid-19 lockdowns.

The promotion will be available on 4000 screens nationwide at cinema chains such as PVR, INOX, Cinépolis, Carnival, Miraj, Citypride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, Delite, and many more.

The move may come as a tremendous comfort to moviegoers who have to pay Rs 200-300 for a single movie ticket. Surprisingly, the audience will be able to see Brahmastra in theatres for the lowest possible ticket price. The film will be released in cinemas on September 9.

MAI also reported that theatre owners had a successful first quarter of current fiscal year. “India boasts a vibrant domestic film industry and one of the quickest recoveries in the global cinema exhibition market.”

On the basis of global and local tent poles that connected with the Indian public, the first quarter of FY’23 saw remarkable figures across theatre operators. “The quarter saw the release of some of the biggest local hits including KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, Bhool Bhulaiya 2 and Hollywood hits like Doctor Strange and Top Gun: Maverick,” according to the statement.

On National Cinema Day, cinema chains in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Europe will offer comparable deals.
