Rahul Gandhi, the party’s leader, on Thursday emphasised the “one person, one post” rule and said he believed the party’s commitment to its Udaipur declaration would be maintained in the election for the party’s top post amidst indications that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot would run for president of the Congress.

Rahul Gandhi referred to the office of Congress president as a “ideological post” and stated it “represents a set of ideas, a belief system, and a vision of India.”

Gandhi replied in response to a query at a news conference on the fifteenth day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in this location: “You are adopting a viewpoint. A specific perception of India is defined and has been determined by this historical situation. It is not merely an administrative position.

The position of president of the Congress represents an ideology and a set of values. I would advise whoever is elected president to keep in mind that he or she represents a set of ideas, a belief system, and a vision for India.

The decision we made in Udaipur. I anticipate that Congress will uphold its promise to “one person, one post” (on the party’s presidential post).”

Earlier this year, at the Udaipur Chintan Shivir, the Congress made a number of organisational reform decisions. According to the proclamation, the “one person, one post” approach should be upheld.

Rahul Gandhi is unlikely to participate in the October 17 presidential election. On October 19, the results will be made public.

Ashok Gehlot, who is seen as being close to the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, had stated on Wednesday that he is ready to take on whatever duties assigned to him by the party, indicating his desire to run for president. On Wednesday, Gehlot spoke with interim party leader Sonia Gandhi.

Shashi Tharoor, a party member and MP, has also expressed interest in running for office and met Sonia Gandhi on Monday. He spoke with Madhusudan Mistry, the head of the Congress Central Election Authority, on Wednesday.

Gandhi today claimed that Congress is up against a “machine” that has “controlled the institutional structure” of the nation, in a subtly insulting reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“We are battling a machine that has seized control of the nation’s institutions and has unrestricted financial resources and the power to intimidate, bribe, and purchase individuals. The purpose of the yatra is to convey to the Indian people the need for unity and the need to return to a loving and affectionate India “said he.

Rahul Gandhi, according to sources, will now return to Delhi tonight.

“Rahul Gandhi will return to Delhi tonight because the Bharat Jodo Yatra will be stopped tomorrow. Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will re-join the Bharat Jodo Yatra on September 24 “announced a source.

The nomination period for the position of Congress president will start on September 24 and end on September 30.
