Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch has been hit by flash floods. Zojila pass has been hit badly by the floods. Due to this, the Sringara – Leh highway has been closed. The flash floods were mainly orchestrated by the blockages of the drainage in town.

Dozens of vehicles have been washed away, while several houses were flooded by the flash flood causing colossal damage to the property. The exact amount of damage is still to be ascertained, said a police official.

He added that two persons were trapped inside the earth-moving machine when the flash floods hit the Surankote area. One of them got washed away, while the other was injured but rescued.

Earlier in a day-long operation executed by the army, 26 persons were rescued from the flash flood caused in the Chandak Bela area. The Army troops with the police department and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) launched the operation after the intimidation of the information of 26 persons trapped in the flash floods.
