Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the historic Shiva temple in Chanour, Kangra district, offering prayers for the state’s peace and prosperity, according to an official statement from the Himachal Pradesh government. He spoke with the media, sharing his longstanding connection with the temple, emphasizing his visits even before becoming Chief Minister.
Regarding the suspension of crusher activities in the Beas river basin and its tributaries, CM Sukhu clarified that the decision was made due to the challenges posed by this year’s exceptionally heavy monsoon rains. He emphasized that this ban extends beyond Kangra, covering Kullu, Mandi, and Hamirpur districts, and is enforced under the Disaster Management Act of 2005. The primary goal is to protect the fragile ecological balance and safeguard the environment, communities, and infrastructure in the state.
Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to environmental preservation and the well-being of citizens in the face of changing weather patterns and natural disasters. As part of the event, he planted a sapling at the forest rest house Dadasiba in the Jaswan Pragpur Assembly segment.
Several dignitaries, including MLA Sanjay Rattan, Hoshiyar Singh, Congress leader Surender Mankotia, Nardev Kanwar, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal, and SP Shalini Agnihotri, were also present on the occasion.
