Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan warned the federal government against threatening PTI supporters with detention at a public gathering in Mianwali on Saturday, according to The Frontier Post. Noting that he would give his life for the country’s “true freedom,” Imran Khan stated, “We are not afraid of being arrested because I will soon announce a Jail Bharo Tehreek (prison movement),” adding that “millions of people are ready to fill your jails.”

Concerning the much-anticipated long march, Imran Khan stated that his party has far better plans for the protest than the government, according to a daily newspaper.

“All of the ‘imported’ government’s plans against the PTI would fail, and they would be forced to call elections,” he claimed.

According to a daily newspaper, he urged the people of Mianwali to prepare for the final call, saying that no nation can prosper without absolute independence.

The former prime minister expressed relief that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an investigation into an alleged cypher, which he claims led to his government’s demise.

Pakistan’s Federal Cabinet has formally authorised the commencement of legal proceedings against former Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with recent audio leaks purportedly featuring him and his aides discussing a US cypher.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the federal cabinet on Friday. According to local media, the cabinet accused Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, of sacrificing vital national interests for political gain.

According to a handout issued following a cabinet meeting, “theft” of diplomatic cypher records is an “unforgivable crime” and a violation of the Official Secrets Act of 1923.

Khan went on to say that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been calling for an investigation into the cypher for the past six months, and that they have even forwarded the letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) for investigation, according to The daily newspaper.

Cypher is an alleged secret diplomatic cable that fueled conspiracy theories that the US wanted to destabilise former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government and facilitate Pakistani regime change.

Imran Khan emphasised the performance of his government, claiming that the country’s economy was recovering during the PTI’s tenure. “According to the economic survey, the country’s economy is recovering for the first time in 17 years,” he added.

According to the PTI chief, PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz held a press conference before leaving for London and blamed him for the case against her.

“I implore you to tell the truth. I did not bring a lawsuit against you. The case was filed in light of the Panama papers,” he added.
