On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will attend the 2nd India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Tokyo.

According to an official release, the Japanese side will be represented by Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada and Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

“The 2+2 Dialogue will review bilateral cooperation across domains and chart out the way forward,” the statement issued by the Ministry of Defence.

India and Japan are working on establishing a Special Strategic and Global Partnership. This year celebrates the 70th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations.

In addition to the 2+2 conversation, Rajnath Singh will undertake bilateral meetings with his Japanese counterpart to boost bilateral defence cooperation in a variety of areas. During his visit, he will also meet with Japan’s Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida.
The Defence Minister will also attend a community event hosted by the Indian Embassy in Tokyo and meet with members of the Indian diaspora in Japan.
