Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is likely to get its first ever Chief Executive Officer as the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to finalise the selection of the three shortlisted candidates for the post in a meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 2.
How It All Began?
The search began after three posts became vacant at the trust following the demise of one of the trustees, Vimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, while the others, former general secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra had quit after the alleged theft of temple donations. The Trust received a whopping number of 5,585 applications for the post of CEO before it culled out some more shortlists through multiple screenings.
Selection Process
A three-member search committee headed by retired Justice Pramod Kohli, along with retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi and industrialist Suresh Haware, was tasked with selecting a suitable person. Of the total number of candidates, 108 scored more than the qualifying point of 470 and were selected for virtual interviews in four separate days. Of this list, 17 names were selected and graded into grades A, B, and C based on the performance of the candidates. One candidate had to drop out due to a personal emergency and thus 16 were selected for face-to-face interviews in Ayodhya. After these interviews, the committee decided upon three names based on devotion, dedication, vision, and understanding of the workings of such an institution.
Three Names In Shortlist
As per reports, the three names in the shortlist include former Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Rajesh Pandey, retired IAS officer Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, and former Bihar DGP Paresh Saxena. All three belong to Uttar Pradesh.
What’s At Stake?
The final decision lies in the hands of the Trust, which convened in the premises of its president, Nritya Gopal Das, in Maniramdas Chhawani. The search committee secretary Sameer Panda has claimed that there was no politics or organisational interference in the whole process, adding that no organisation was ever after a particular candidate being chosen. The CEO will be responsible for running all administrative aspects of the temple from managing pilgrims to dealing with the government departments once he gets appointed, and that too will be a significant task considering the importance of the Ram Mandir complex.
The Trust was also scheduled to appoint its first secretary along with two other positions.
