In anticipation of hosting the G20 summit, New Delhi has undergone a vibrant transformation. The vicinity near Jama Masjid has been adorned with a tricolour display of flowers and colorful umbrellas.
The area surrounding Jama Masjid now boasts G20 logos and banners proudly proclaiming India’s G20 presidency, with this year’s theme being ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – One Earth, One Family, One Future. Jama Masjid, a 17th-century mosque constructed during the rule of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, graces the historic streets of Old Delhi.
The city has been enlivened with captivating murals, graffiti, painted walls, and sculptures in preparation for this global summit. The authorities have meticulously enhanced the appearance of roads, footpaths, roundabouts, markets, flyovers, and public spaces by adding over 1 lakh potted plants. Furthermore, over 3 thousand trees and an impressive 9 lakh saplings have been planted throughout New Delhi.
The G20 Summit, slated for September 9 and 10 in New Delhi under India’s stewardship, is set to attract the participation of esteemed world leaders. The event will host over 30 heads of state, in addition to high-ranking officials from the European Union, guest countries, and 14 leaders of international organizations.
The G20, consisting of 19 countries and the European Union, plays a pivotal role in global economic collaboration.
The summit will be conducted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre located at Pragati Maidan, showcasing India’s capabilities as the host.
