At the Delhi Police headquarters on Wednesday, a delegation of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind led by its general secretary Maulana Hakeemuddin Qasmi met with the Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).
The delegation urged action be taken against BJP MP Parvesh Varma, MLA Nandkishore Gurjar, and others for their alleged “hate speech” against the Muslim community on October 9, according to an official announcement. Additionally, they sent a note to the police officer requesting stern punishment against individuals responsible for setting up the meeting in this respect.
According to a tweet from Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, “A Delegation of @JamiatUlama in met Spl CP L&O @Dependra Pathak and submitted a memorandum signed by JUH President @mahmoodAmadani about the recent incident of hate speeches made by BJP MP Parvesh Varma and other religious leaders in NE Delhi on Oct. 9.”
As per the press release, Pathak said he has previously heard of and noted the occurrence.
According to the announcement, “He also indicated that the investigation into this situation has already begun, and we are gathering pieces of evidence, notably video clips, and looking into the matter.”
Maulanas Hakeemudding Qasmi, Advocate Noorullah, Maulana Gayyur Qasmi, Maulana Azeemullah, Mashhood Alam, and Maulana Muazzam Arifi were also part of the delegation.
