Ramesh Katara has been inducted into the Gujarat cabinet. Alongside him, Jitu Vaghani and Manisha Vakil have also made their entry, marking a key update in the state’s ministerial lineup

CM Bhupendra Patel has left for Raj Bhavan. He will submit the list of ministers’ names to the Governor for the oath-taking ceremony.

The BJP has officially informed its MLAs about the latest cabinet appointments. Veteran leaders Praful Panseria, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Rishikesh Patel, and Pursottam Solanki have been retained in their positions, while Lavingji Thakor and Kumar Kanani have made their entry into the cabinet, marking a blend of experience and fresh leadership.

Gujarat can have a maximum of 27 ministers, equivalent to 15% of its 182-member assembly, and the BJP is working to fill more of these positions. Currently, the state cabinet consists of 17 ministers, including the Chief Minister, with 8 serving as cabinet ministers and 8 as ministers of state.

The ongoing reshuffle is part of the BJP’s strategy to revitalize its leadership in Gujarat and strengthen its position ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.

The swearing-in ceremony for Gujarat’s newly appointed ministers is underway today. Scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM at Mahatma Mandir, the oath will be administered by Governor Acharya Devvrat.

Ahead of the ceremony, telephonic instructions to officials and ministers are expected to commence shortly. The MLA quarters witnessed a vigil-like atmosphere late into the night, as preparations for the significant political event continued.

After completing his Mumbai schedule on Thursday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel returned to his residence in Gandhinagar and, around 3 PM, accepted the resignations of all 19 members of his current cabinet.

Prior to his departure for Mumbai, the Chief Minister had announced via a press release that the cabinet expansion and swearing-in ceremony would be held at the Mahatma Mandir on Friday at 11:30 AM.

From 4 PM on Thursday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel assumed charge of all government departments. This followed the resignation of 16 ministers earlier in the afternoon, after which the portfolios under their control were, as per procedure, transferred to the CM’s office.
