Bihar Assembly Elections Phase 2 LIVE Updates: Bihar Records Highest Voter Turnout 67.14% Till 5 PM

Bihar recorded a big voter turnout of 67.14 per cent in the second phase of Assembly polls till 5 pm. 

The highest voter turnout was recorded in Kishanganj district at 76.26 per cent, followed by 75.23 per cent in Katihar, 73.79 per cent in Purnia, 70.69 per cent in Supaul, 69.02 per cent in Purvi Champaran 68.91 per cent in Banka.
Nawada recorded 57.11 per cent turnout till 5 pm, according to the Voter Turnout application of the ECI.
A turnout of 67.79 per cent was recorded in Araria, 63.06 per cent in Arwal, 64.48 per cent in Aurangabad, 66.03 per cent in Bhagalpur, 64.36 per cent in Jahanabad, 67.22 per cent in Kaimur (Bhabua), 69.02 per cent in Paschim Champaran and 67.50 per cent in Gaya.
Jamui recorded a voter turnout of 67.81 per cent, 60.09 per cent in Rohtas, 67.31 per cent in Sheohar, 65.28 per cent in Sitamarhi and 61.79 per cent in Madhubani.

Kishanganj topped the voter turnout list with 76.26 per cent, closely followed by Kaithar at 75.23 per cent, Purnia at 73.79 per cent, Supaul at 70.69 per cent, and Purvi Champaran at 69.31 per cent.

On the other hand, Nawada recorded the lowest turnout at 57.11 per cent, followed by Rohtas (60.69 per cent), Madhubani (61.79 per cent), and Arwal (63.06 per cent).

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, a voter turnout of 67.14% per cent till 5 pm in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

BJP filed a formal complaint against the RJD, accusing it of violating the election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) through a social media post. 

The BJP said that the RJD’s post made “deliberate attempts to manipulate voter perception on the day of polling”. It added such action “strike at the root of democracy.”

As polling continues for the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed confidence in the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) performance, saying that “around 80 out of 122 seats, NDA candidates will win”.

Voting for the Bihar Assembly Elections Phase 2 will conclude at around 5 pm. at 6:30 pm pollsters will begin releasing their exit poll projections. 

The state recorded a voter turnout of 60.40 per cent till 3 pm in the second phase of the Assembly elections on Tuesday, according to data released by the Election Commission India. 

 Chandrika Devi, mother of Janata Dal (United) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, hoped that Nitish Kumar would once again become Bihar’s chief minister.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sanjay Jaiswal said that there is “unprecedented enthusiasm” among voters, expressing confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure a “very large majority” and cross the 200-seat mark in the state.

Several prominent leaders exercised their franchise during the second and final phase of polling in Bihar. JD(U) acting president Sanjay Jha, Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Purnea MP Pappu Yadav and state Congress chief Rajesh Ram were among the first to cast their votes.

 BJP’s Jamui candidate Shreyashi Singh, Industries Minister Nitish Mishra and Independent candidate Jyoti Singh wife of Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh also voted, along with BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain and Congress MLA Ajeet Sharma.

Janshakti Janata Dal chief and Mahua candidate Tej Pratap Yadav said women voters are turning out in large numbers and asserted that “there will be a change in government.” Confident of victory, he said he sees himself as “number one” in Mahua.

On the Delhi blast near Red Fort, he urged the government to take strict action, calling it a major security breach.

A scuffle broke out between Congress and BJP supporters at a polling booth in Araria during Phase 2 voting. Congress supporters alleged that BJP workers tried to intimidate voters. Meanwhile, Bihar recorded 47.62% turnout by 1 PM, with Kishanganj, Gaya, Jamui and Banka leading in voter participation.

In the wake of the deadly Delhi blasts, Bihar police have ordered the 700 km-long border with Nepal to be shut for 72 hours to ensure peaceful conduct of elections during the second phase of polling.

As per the Election Commission, 47.62% of voters had cast their votes by 1 PM in the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections. Enthusiastic voters queued up at polling stations across districts, showing strong engagement in the democratic process. Leading districts include Kishanganj (51.86%), Gaya (50.95%), Jamui (50.91%), and Banka (50.07%).

As early trends indicate strong participation in the final phase of Bihar Assembly elections, JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha said voters are coming out in large numbers for peace, development, and good governance. He also highlighted that the NDA gained a “very large” vote margin in the first phase.

After voting in the second phase of Bihar Assembly elections, Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram claimed that voters’ body language indicates a desire for change.

He said the public seems ready to bid farewell to the 20-year-old government and suggested a new INDIA Alliance government is on the horizon.

Former Deputy CM and BJP candidate from Katihar, Tarkishore Prasad, expressed confidence in retaining his seat in the Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking to ANI, he highlighted the “double-engine government” for driving development in Katihar since 2005 and said he hopes to continue serving the constituency with voters’ support.

By 11 AM, Bihar Assembly elections 2025 recorded a 31.38% voter turnout, reflecting steady participation across urban and rural areas. Key districts leading the early voting include Kishanganj (34.74%), Gaya (34.07%), Jamui (33.69%), and Purnia (32.94%). First-time and young voters have shown significant enthusiasm, with turnout closely tracked throughout the day.

As voting continues in the second phase of Bihar elections, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge urged for a state model focused on economic development, social justice, and equality.

Criticising the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, he accused it of being opportunistic, corrupt, and against the poor and deprived, adding that “the time for change has arrived.”

Two people were arrested in Motihari after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alleged poll code violations inside multiple booths. The party claimed that BJP polling agents were showing voters photos and slips with BJP symbols before casting their votes. Police intervened and made arrests after the complaint.

Bihar Elections 2025 Live: Gaya logged the highest turnout at 15.97% till 9 am, followed by Kishanganj (15.81%), Jamui (15.77%), Purnia (15.54%) and Aurangabad (15.43%).

Bihar’s second and final phase of Assembly elections recorded 14.55% turnout by 9 AM, with reports of long lines and high enthusiasm at several polling booths. Gaya (15.97%), Kishanganj (15.81%), and Jamui (15.77%) are among the districts registering strong early turnout as election officials work to maintain smooth voting.

Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor urged voters to focus on Bihar-centric issues during the ongoing Assembly polls, stating that incidents like the Delhi blast “sometimes happen” during elections and should not create panic. He expressed confidence that security concerns are being handled by the government and Parliament.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appealed to citizens to cast their votes in the second phase of the Assembly polls, stressing that voting is both a right and a duty. Urging people to prioritise voting over daily chores, he posted on X, “Vote first, then refreshments!” Polling began at 7 am across 122 constituencies, covering around 3.7 crore voters.

Braving the early morning chill, voters reached polling booths well before voting began at 7 am for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Many said they wanted the state to “move forward with the nation,” with one voter proudly stating, “First votes, then chores.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to voters in Bihar to surpass the record voter turnout seen in the first phase of polling.

Calling on first-time voters to not only cast their vote but motivate others as well, he noted that phase 1 recorded the “highest ever” turnout of over 65%.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the Delhi blast near Red Fort and urged the Centre to ensure a fair probe.

In a video message, he called for strict action under national security laws, saying the country cannot afford any compromise on internal security. Delhi Police have registered a case under UAPA, the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

As voting begins in the final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, 3.7 crore voters will decide the political future of 1,302 candidates across 122 constituencies. 

The stakes are high for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet, with 12 ministers including Vijendra Yadav, Lesi Singh, and Prem Kumar in the fray. 

Key battleground seats include Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, Nathnagar, and Sasaram. Polling officials say preparations are complete, with hopes of a strong voter turnout.

Three key constituencies Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Nathnagar are set for intense multi-cornered contests. In Bhagalpur, Congress MLA Ajeet Sharma faces stiff competition from BJP’s Rohit Pandey and Jan Suraaj’s Abhay Kant Jha.

Sultanganj sees JD(U)’s Lalit Narayan Mandal taking on RJD’s Chandan Kumar and Congress’s Lalan Kumar. Nathnagar has turned into a four-way faceoff between LJP (RV), RJD, Jan Suraaj, and AIMIM candidates.

Ahead of phase 2 polling, Independent MP Pappu Yadav alleged that over 69 lakh voter names were deleted during the SIR exercise and questioned how the turnout still increased in phase 1. Targeting the PM’s campaign tone, he said Gen Z voters want change and accused the Prime Minister of avoiding Bihar-specific issues while using terms like “katta” and “bomb” in speeches.

Bihar Police have strengthened security across the state ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections, which will decide the fate of 1,302 candidates, including key leaders from both the ruling NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan. The polling will take place a day after a car blast in Delhi killed eight people.

Speaking to ANI, Bihar Director General of Police Vinay Kumar confirmed that the state remains on high alert. He said security has been intensified along all bordering areas, with continuous vehicle checks and patrols. The DGP appealed to voters to exercise their franchise fearlessly, assuring that police forces have maintained heightened vigilance for the past 72 hours in view of the elections.

The voting time alotted by ECI is from 7 am till 5pm. Voters must visit to their polling stations and cast their vote. 

Bihar has been placed on high alert following the explosion in Delhi that claimed multiple lives and injured several others. DIG Vinay Kumar urged citizens to come out and cast their votes “without fear” and assured that adequate security arrangements are in place across the state.
