BJP MP Sambit Patra says, “The way the opposition MPs, especially Congress MPs, behaved in the Parliament has never happened in history…The way opposition MPs tore and threw the copies of the bill and intimated the Speaker…The copies of the bill were thrown towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah…A black chapter has been written by the opposition…They did all this to save the corrupt…Government cannot be run from jail…When this kind of bill was brought by Indira Gandhi, it was mentioned that cases cannot be registered against the Prime Minister, President, Vice-President…In this bill, action can be taken against the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, state ministers, and the Chief Minister…To save Lalu Prasad Yadav, Manmohan Singh brought an ordinance, tore that ordinance and said that he was against corruption. Today again the bill was torn, which means that they want governments to be run from jail…The nation is watching this hypocrisy…”

BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi says, “TMC people were creating a ruckus in Parliament. Along with them, Congress and other opposition party members were sitting in their seats, causing a ruckus. We go to Parliament to do constructive work. If the country’s Home Minister has brought a bill, it is our duty to listen to him… We condemn such behaviour.”

BJP MP Ravi Kishan says, “I strongly condemn it, the opposition has crossed the limits of hooliganism. They threw papers and used abusive language…I have never seen such a scene. I condemn this behaviour”

BJP MP Anurag Thakur says, “What is the opposition protesting against, morality or corruption? After all, in Indian politics, if we talk about resigning on the basis of morality and against corruption, and then about making laws, why does the opposition oppose this? Today, the fight is clear: who stands with the corrupt – the opposition; and who is free from corruption – the BJP. The opposition and such actions that took place in Parliament have shamed democracy and have also shown that the opposition stands with corruption and is ready to go to any extent to protect the corrupt.”

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad says, “It is very sad that MPs are behaving like this, trying to fight… What is their problem with this bill? Do they have a problem because this bill provides a solution for people like Arvind Kejriwal, who go to jail but do not resign?… People who go to jail and still run the government, it is sad for Indian governance… This bill addresses this issue. I don’t know why they are creating a ruckus…”

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi says, “I stand to oppose the introduction of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2025, Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill 2025 and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill 2025. This violates principle of separation of powers and undermines the right of the power to elect a Govt. It gives executive agencies a free run to become judge and executioner based on flimsy allegations and suspicions…This Govt is hell-bent on creating a Police State. This will be a death nail unleashed on elected Govt. India Constitution is being amended to turn this country into a Police State…”

On the bill for the removal of the PM, CMs, and ministers held on serious criminal charges, SP MP Rajeev Rai says, “One more line should have been written in it that either the criminal joins the BJP or this bill will be applied to them… The Prime Minister and Home Minister, who claimed to send someone to jail, as soon as they join the BJP, they become Chief Ministers and Ministers…”

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi says, “This bill is unconstitutional..Who will arrest the Prime Minister?…All in all, the BJP government wants to make our country a police state through these bills…We will oppose them…The BJP is forgetting that power is not eternal…”

AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday submitted a notice in Lok Sabha opposing the introduction of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Bill, to be tabled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeks to empower the Lieutenant Governor to dismiss a Chief Minister or Minister facing serious criminal charges. Owaisi’s move adds to the opposition’s criticism, with several leaders questioning the Centre’s intent behind the proposed amendment.

Opposition leaders on Wednesday hit out at the Centre for introducing multiple bills in the Lok Sabha, calling it a “desperate attempt” to shift focus from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ongoing Vote Adhikar Yatra.

 Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi alleged in a post on X that Home Minister Amit Shah’s bills were designed to divert public attention, linking it to what he termed as earlier “CSDS–BJP IT cell drama.” He added that the Yatra’s momentum, especially in Bihar, reflected “winds of change” against the ruling BJP.
