The first session belongs to Jammu and Kashmir. They will go into the lunch at 104/1. Prasidh Krishna did provide an early breakthrough but it has all been about the J&K batting since then.
J&K batters have frustrated the Karnataka bowlers in this first session. This has been an absolute brilliant display of batting from Pundir and Hassan. They have resisted well, were very cautious in the beginning and now capitalising on the start they got. J&K are 103/1
Yawer Hassan slashes one through the off side and gets to a brilliant fifty. This is an important knock from the right-handed batter. J&K had suffered an early blow and they needed resistance. This has been a good partnership for J&K
Despite the early blow, J&K batters have resisted well. They needed to get through that first half hour which had something for the seamers. The ball was moving a bit. The batters are now settled in and here’s the 50-run stand between Pundir and Hassan
While J&K have lost an early wicket, Hassan has held the fort firmly at one end. He is hitting his strokes. That’s a stunning boundary through the covers. J&K are 40/1 after 16.
WICKET! That’s the early wicket that Karnataka were looking for. Iqbal edges one straight to KL Rahul in the slips as J&K lose first wicket for 18
Karnataka bowlers should keep bowling around that outside off stump channel. They have been getting some movement. This is a crucial first half hour for both the sides. The seamers need to make some use of it.
That’s a brilliant delivery moving away from the right-hander. Iqbal has been coming down the track right from the very beginning. It looks as if the ball has taken the edge and the on-field umpire has also given that out. But the batter goes upstairs and there is a massive gap between the bat and ball.
Iqbal who has opened the innings for Jammu and Kashmir is stepping down and trying to negate that early movement. But the outswing deliveries are creating a problem for him.
Devdutt Padikkal: I don’t think it’s relevant. I’ve lost the toss in all the three matches, we will look to bowl well. Getting to a Ranji final is a huge achievement, a lot of guys have come into the side and experiencing a final is great. Same team for us.
Paras Dogra: We will bat first. Looks dry and might turn later on. We’ve kept things simple and god has been with us, we’ve played some good cricket. Just stick to the basics – a couple of forced changes for us.
PITCH REPORT: A healthy spread of grass covers the surface, though it appears slightly on the drier side. The grass should help bind the pitch well, offering decent carry early on. There could be some early moisture, providing assistance to the seamers, while the dryness is likely to bring spinners into play as the match progresses.
