Kolkata Knight Riders got off to the worst start possible in IPL 2026. The Knight Riders were winless in the first six games. However, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side has had a great turnaround, winning six of their next seven games and finds themselves in the race to the playoffs even though they need a huge win and, more importantly, the Rajasthan Royals to lose the ongoing match against the Mumbai Indians.
It is yet another trademark Delhi Capitals season. The Axar Patel-led side started off with a couple of wins and then lost a couple of games, including a one-run defeat to GT. DC failed in their next few games and won only two of their nine games. Coming into this game against the Knight Riders, DC have been eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoffs race despite winning two games on the bounce.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ playoffs scenario remains in focus ahead of their clash against the Delhi Capitals. While the Ajinkya Rahane-led side could be knocked out if RR wins the afternoon game against the Mumbai Indians, they can make it to the playoffs if the result goes in their favour. The hosts would then have to register a thumping victory by around 70 or more runs to get their net run rate past Punjab Kings.
Cameron Green returned to the attack and gave eight runs in his second over after Axar Patel his the final ball of the 14th over for a four.
Just as KL Rahul was looking set for a big score, the wicketkeeper batter was dismissed. Anukul Roy, after bowling the first over, returned to the attack in the 13th over. He was hit for a couple of fours by Rahul in the over, but had the last laugh, dismissing the opening batter on the third ball of the 13th over. Rahul scored 60 runs in only 30 balls, finishing his season on a high.
KL Rahul has got to his fifth fifty in the season to go along with one century. The wicketkeeper batter reached the milestone in 25 balls after hitting Kartik Tyagi for a four and a six. The 11th over went for 20 runs with Axar ending with a couple of fours.
Finally, Sunil Narine, after going for 24 runs in his first two overs, bounced back in style. The right-arm spinner dismissed Sahil Parakh on the third ball of the 10th over.
Both Sahil Parakh and KL Rahul are rubbing salt in KKR’s wounds. Having been eliminated after being defeated by the Mumbai Indians, the Knight Riders are showing a lack of control with the ball. In the last two overs, both Narine and Chakravarthy have gone for a combined total of 23 runs.
Varun Chakravarthy came into the attack for the seventh over. The Indian spinner started off brilliantly, giving away only four runs in the first over.
Sunil Narine came on to bowl the final over of the power play. The West Indies spinner went for 11 runs, with Sahil Parakh hitting a six and a four. Meanwhile, there was a tough opportunity to dismiss the batter but Rinku Singh diving to his right could not hold on to the catch.
Saurabh Dubey has continued to be a gem for the Knight Riders. While the KKR were eliminated before the fifth over began, the left-arm medium pacer from Vidarbha did not lose his line and length. He dismissed Abhishek Porel and was rewarded for his discipline tonight, having given only five runs in two overs.
It is all over for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Rajasthan Royals have defeated the Mumbai Indians to take the fourth spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. KKR and Punjab Kings have now beenn eliminated from the race to playoffs.
Cameron Green came into the attack, replacing Anukul Roy. The Australian all-rounder went for 14 runs, having been hit for a six and a four by KL Rahul.
It is looking highly likely that the Kolkata Knight Riders will be knocked out as the Rajasthan Royals are set to win against the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, in the second over, Saurabh Dubey got some movement in the air against Porel. The left-arm medium pacer went for only two runs.
Anukul Roy was struck for a couple of fours by Porel as the Knight Riders had a poor start to the first innings.
Abhishek Porel and Kl Rahul are opening the innings for the Capitals, meanwhile, it is Anukul Roy with the new ball for the hosts.
It is seven minutes before the first ball is bowled at Eden Gardens. However, the Knight Riders could very well be knocked out before the first power play is up. Jofra Archer in the afternoon game has had a blinder of a performance and he is making sure not only does the Rajasthan Royals win but KKR and PBKS get eliminated as well.
The match at Wankhede Stadium is going down to the wire, Mumbai Indians need 59 runs from the final five overs. RR has brought Jofra Archer for his final over. It could very well be a final throw of dice from Riyan Parag.
